Subtle changes make me way less productive

There are a few things I do in Wavelab 100 times a day, and I version 12, they suddenly don’t work like that have for the past 15 years or more.

I use a single key shortcut for Normalize- the letter “N”. My workflow was: select an area to normalize, N, ENTER. Then I’m done. If I need to normalize another area, I just press N and ENTER. Super fat and easy. In Wavelab 12, If I need to do it again, it doesn’t work until I move my mouse and make the Level Normalizer an active window again. If I press N again, it makes the window go away.
I have the same problem with the Envelope window.
Also the Create Named marker window has the same problem.

I’ve been on version 12 for a few months now and It’s driving me crazy. Can this be fixed?

Thanks,
~Jay

I remember those good old times around 2000 where Wavelab was really good.
WL 12 is disappointing, because it is for professionals…

Hi!
Mac or PC because on macOS it works the same in
WL 11 as in WL 12 with Normalize, I think PG will chime in

There is (and was) a faster workflow for what you are doing. If you assign a shortcut to your normalize preset, then the procedure is just two steps and not three:

select an area to normalize then trigger your shortcut.

This procedure does not open the Dialog.

To create a preset, do this:

Thanks Phillipe, I love that!
But can you also change it back to the way it was?

I would need to add an option, because the current behaviour has also advantages.

If you can make it an option, that would be great. I still can’t get used to the way Create Named Marker works. These are functions I use many times every day.
The “Define Shortcut Current Preset” is wonderful! What used to take 2 keystrokes is now only 1, and in those instances, there is no need to see the window.
But the Create Named Marker window really messes me up. I use the so often that I put it on one of my 5 macro keys on my keyboard.

Maybe it would be sufficient to have the Return key trigger this button instead of the other one?

There are a few processes (Gain, Normalize and Pitch) that users would want to be active on screen - and work using N + Enter, G + Enter, P + Enter, B + Enter etc.

Note - when working with N+Enter, there is no way to close process window using Esc when user click on Audio file and will have to wait till the last N+Enter to use Esc.

May be PG can consider

  1. Revert to old way providing there is option to close process window.
  2. Close all Open Process using one shortcut whether they are active or not.
  3. Process - Open with one shortcut - Close with another
  4. Mouse over process making process active (without having to click)
  5. PinPin Process Window

Yes, that’s exactly how I’d like it to work. I’m pretty sure that is how it used to work. I type the name, press ENTER, and it would create and close.
