Sudden Crashes with Waves CLA Plugins in Cubase (Both v14 and v15) - Works in Other DAWs

Hello everyone,

I’m experiencing a very strange and sudden issue with my Waves CLA plugins and would appreciate any help.

The Problem:

What: Cubase crashes instantly when I try to load any plugin from the Waves CLA series (e.g., CLA Vocals, CLA Bass, CLA Drums).
When: The problem started occurring yesterday out of the blue.
Where: The crash happens in both Cubase 14 and Cubase 15.
Context: All other plugins (Waves) in Cubase work fine. Furthermore, the exact same Waves CLA plugins work without any issues in Reaper.
Crucial Background Information:

Stable History: My setup with Cubase 14 and the CLA plugins had been working perfectly for a full year. Cubase 15 was also stable until yesterday.
No Intentional Changes: I did not update my macOS, Cubase, or the Waves plugins themselves before the problem started.
Recent Installations: The only change to my system before the issue appeared was the installation of two new plugins:

RePitch 2
Noiseflow Gain Aim

What I’ve Tried:

I have completely uninstalled and performed a clean reinstall of all Waves plugins using Waves Central.
I have reset the plugin database in Cubase.
The problem persists.
It seems the issue is specific to the interaction between these particular Waves plugins and Cubase, as they work elsewhere.

Has anyone encountered a similar issue? Could the installation of the two new plugins have caused a conflict with Waves? Any guidance or suggestions would be immensely appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hey, I can confirm that RePitch 2 is the likely culprit, and it seems to only apply to VST3 format of Waves plugins. I was unable to load samples into Waves instruments and the meters of plugins like L4 didn’t work. Removing RePitch from the VST3 folder solved the problem.

Maybe I missed this, but did you mention what version of Waves are you running?

Hi

The last one

The first thing I did when this problem started was to reinstall the entire Waves package.

Hi Anton, hang in there. I’ve been communicating with Waves and they’ve confirmed that they’ve been able to reproduce the problem. Therefore a fix is hopefully on the way.
