Suggestion for Manuals - Steinberg wide

I think I have become the exact customer Steinberg was targeting. After getting into Dorico (my only real love/passion) I decided I would play around with composition in Cubase, and now…. Nuendo. The model worked. Becoming a Steinberg customer got me into other products, despite not really understanding the other products. Ohhh, don’t forget I also bought Iconica Opus.

I have a small suggestion that I think would help users across all areas of Steinberg products. At the bottom of each page, or maybe at the end of each section, it would be very nice if there was a link to go back to the Table of Contents (TOC). As I find that I am looking in manuals more and more to find out more about topics, getting back to the TOC is a small delay that could be eliminated with a link.

Not sure if this is a difficult thing to adopt for future editions of the manual, but thought I would pass along.

Enjoying everything I am learning and accomplishing with my Steinberg applications.

Also, Lillie, I’d like to go on record as I am looking through all of these manuals, that the true depth, effort, and attention to detail of your work on the manuals does NOT go unnoticed or unappreciated. It is truly amazing. Bravo to you!!!

As far as I see, there’s no such thing as the bottom of the page, new content is added while scrolling.

But the TOC is visible top left all the time.

I don’t see that.

If this already exists and I am missing something, please ignore my suggestion. I just see that anywhere on my webpage based manual, nor the PDF. I do find myself using both versions. Depending on how “long” I believe I will be looking stuff up.

The Zoom buttons suggest you are in a Pdf manual.

You are correct. I was viewing the PDF online.

Thanks for help. I think a link in the PDF would be very useful.

In the mean time, if you remember the TOC starts on page 3, you can go there easily there

Depending on which browser you’re using, you should / could be able to see a permanent TOC listing for the PDF on either the left or right.

I certainly make healthy use of that in Adobe when I’m referring to a PDF output myself!

(And thank you for your compliments about the manual, that always means a lot to know that our documentation efforts are useful)

I am on macOS using Preview. I found that in the sidebar menu, there is an option to show TOC. I was unaware this was there. So my issue is officially resolved in all aspects.

I am leaving this comment for future user looking for similar answers.
