When using the mouse scroll wheel the default scrolling in Cubase is a bit janky in my opinion, it is not smooth and quite jumpy. I found a solution which others may benefit from.
I have use a Logitech MX 3S mouse, which comes with the LogiTech Option+ software. The software has a smooth scrolling option, but is only enabled for select Windows applications which is hardcoded in the app.
I discovered a patch for this software which enables the smooth scrolling for all applications via Reddit Reddit - Dive into anything
One more trick which I discovered., which provides smooth scrolling without downloading the patch. The LogiTech Options software is hardcoded to allow smooth scrolling on browsers. e.g. chrome.
To enable it for Cubase, make a copy of your Cubase.exe and rename it to Chrome.exe, and run the newly named Chrome.exe. That is it! Cubase will have smooth scrolling! I have created a shortcut to Chrome.exe, renamed the shortcut to Cubase, and put it on my desktop.
Do you find this better than the patch? I’ve noticed since I downloaded the patch, the logitech software has been crashing every so often. When it does, my macros and bindings are no longer available.
My general preference with software is not to install anything extra if you don’t have too, so I am not using the patch and using the alternative method of making a copy of the cubase.exe and renaming it Chrome.exe. This works fine and have had no issues.
