Superior Drummer multiple outputs in the arranger renaming - see video

I like to use Superior Drummer with multiple outputs. I also like to show these multiple outputs in the arranger with the midi file at the top. When I rename the top output track as “Kick” the midi file above also gets named kick when I want to name it SD3 Midi. But it seems those 2 tracks are linked and I can’t have separate names. I also noticed that in order to reveal the multiple outputs in the arranger I need to hover my mouse over hidden button in order for the multiple output tracks to show. I also noticed this button is named “show/hide automation” so I’m wondering whether I’m even using thetp correct method to reveal multiple outputs in the arrange page.

I use sd3 multi-out too. I don’t open up in the arrange window. The audio tracks are in the mixer. I still have the same problem in that the first track is called sd3 when I want it to be kick. I rename in the mixer so rendered tracks are named correctly.

This is all normal in Cubase.

First, the automation: The name makes sense if you realize that the only events you can have on these tracks are automation events. No midi, no audio, just automation.

Then: In an instrument track the name of the (main) track and the name of the first (main) output are tied to each other. They will always have the same name.
Personally I am not a fan of this concept but it is what it is.

IF you don’t need ALL individual outputs, you can start the routing with Out2 and go from there.

That’s what I do wit EZDrummer, Halion Sonic and other multi-out VSTi’s. Tha way the naming of individual tracks is easier.

Haha, I do the same.

Who likes the way it is?

Theres got to be a legitimate reason after all these years because I think it has been this way starting whenever multiple outs were first added.

Any ideas?

But then in SD3 or EZD, unless I’m missing something, you are forced to do a lot of Toontrack mixer (or any other developer) editing because your kicks will typically start with channel 1. As a user of most EZX and lots of SDX, I can’t fathom going back and making these changes for dozens if not hundreds of current set-ups.
