Superscript in Project Info fields such as "Copyright" or "Other information"?

Is it possible to have some superscript text in Project Info fields such as “Copyright” or “Other information”? (File > Project Info or Command (Control)-I)

I see from this forum thread that superscript is possible in lyrics when one uses Edit > Notations > Lyrics > Edit Single Lyric. But I could not find anything about superscript elsewhere.

What I want to do is have two superscript digits in the lyrics and then have two in the “Copyright” field of Project Info (like footnotes).

Thanks!
Eric

You can’t use a Superscript font style in text from a token; but it’s possible that your font has superscript digits, which you could use.

A lot of fonts will have 1, 2 and 3, at least.

Alternatively, you could manually edit the text frame, and not use a token.

@benwiggy,

Perfect! Using dedicated glyphs in the font worked great.

Thank you!
Eric

How do you suggest browsing the content of a font from the editing window, if at all possible? Or what would you use to do that?

I use PopChar, which is very useful for browsing font glyphs and inserting them. It also does the reverse: paste a glyph into it, and it will tell you what Unicode number it is.

It does have a price, but it’ worth it, IMO. You may find other similar apps for less/free.

I use Ultra Character Map, support’s SMUFL

Jesper

I (using a Mac running Sonoma) simply went to the Keyboard Switcher (or whatever it’s called) by clicking on the little keyboard (language) icon in the menu bar:
Menu bar
Then I selected “Show Emoji & Symbols”.
Keyboard switcher
And then I could choose a superscript glyph from the Character Viewer:

IIRC, I think it’s called “CharMap” on Windows.

Hope that helps,
Eric

For the past several years I’ve used Auto Hot Key on Windows to create a macro I call “Typography Boost.” It allows me to press F12 and switch to a second “keyboard” by which I can type small caps, oldstyle numerals, and superscripts, as well as em dashes and copyright symbols.

Now that I’ve switched to Mac, I’ve started using Keyboard Maestro for the same thing. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/aotpl8qv90hbrto6jkofs/EN-Typography-Macros-Macros.kmmacros?rlkey=ul4ex42rewfzwh1iclqifpmmc&dl=0. You’d need to remap the Unicode points, since they’re pointing to some custom spots in my fonts, but that’s pretty easy.

This KM script is even better than my AHK script, because the alternate only works for one action. So F12, c gives me ©, and F12 ccc gives me ©cc. So I don’t have to remember to turn it off.

On the Mac, you should be able to get © with Option G. There’s quite a few other useful chars with Option, and even Shift Option.

Yes, I’m just finding it overwhelming to learn so many new key commands already… and mostly what I use this for is small caps and old style figures.

Does anyone know a trick to write a superscript with letters in the name of a layout?
For example: I have the following instrument names:

with the following part layouts:

An instrument cover page looks like this in the top right corner:

How can we have the superscripts rendered correctly without having to “cheat” manually in Engrave mode on the part layout, like this?

Thanks for any suggestions.

There’s no good way to do this because you can’t provide rich text formatting for layout names or fields in Project Info in general, beyond the simple token substitution and Markdown formatting provided.

Hello Daniel, thank you!
Suggestion: if Markdown formatting of something in superscript (and similar for something in subscript) could be supported in the future: that would be appreciated.

Unfortunately at the present time this isn’t supported by the CommonMark standard (insofar as Markdown really has concrete standards) to which Qt’s Markdown support conforms.
