I was wondering if anybody knew how I could use the fact that my church purchased a Yamaha MG20XU to redeem an activation code for Cubase AI, because I seem to be having difficulty figuring out how I’d go about that.
For further context, my hope was that, by using the program that was advertised with purchasing the Yamaha MG20XU, there might be a way, in Cubase, that I could see all the individual channels (all 20 of 'em) reflected on the software side and I could adjust levels both with my actual physical volume faders AND in the software. When I try to do this in Reaper, my DAW of choice usually, I just have the input from ALL the mics in my church as one giant aggregate coming through as a stereo image, and nothing fancier than that, and I was hoping MAYBE there was another program out there that might be able to let me see visually “Here’s how much signal you’re getting in channel 6” etc. Any help appreciated.
Unfortunately, as @fese already pointed out, I don’t think that device is going to satisfy your hopes and dreams for 20 individual channels on individual tracks in Cubase.
I want to thank you both for your feedback. The plus is that I can use Reaper again if I want to, doesn’t matter what the heck I use–it’s 2 channels. And the other plus is that this forces me to get better at oldschool level setting without the ability to adjust a channel level in post, which solves the issue of if my cellist decides he wants it quieter—he simply can’t get it. You get what you get and you don’t get upset, for everybody involved. I mean, eventually, everything is boiled down to a stereo image. I’m just making peace with the final version a little bit earlier than when I do it with my fancypants MOTU audio interface with my raps. I’ll view this as a blessing. Thanks!
