Surround channel convention gone?

I’ve run into some surround channel conversion problem with Cubase Pro 10.0.30

In Cubase 8.5 you can put audio files of any type of channel setting onto any type of channels, route it to any kind of outputs, and Cubase 8.5 would automatically apply channel conversions which are really nice. For example, if I route a 5.1 audio channel to stereo output, the panner will become a 5.1/2.0 converter. If I route 2.0 channel to 5.1 output, the panner will become a surround panner allowing me to put L/R

However, seems in Cubase 10 it becomes a mess:

For example,
if I route 5.1 channel to 2.0 output, it will only playback the L/R channels.
if I route 2.0 channel to 5.1 output, it will become a mono output
sometimes no matter what you route to 5.1 channel, it’ll only playback mono.(only a single dot inside the surround panner)
