SWA Complete Cubase 6 Video Tutorial available now!

Just downloaded tonight over my Verizon FIOS network (I’m in California), I was getting 3.7 MB/sec , downloaded the whole thing in just 5 minutes.

ok, I register on the SWA site, which it says I need to do before purchasing and downloading videos. Waiting for the usual register email, waiting, still waiting, still waiting…

ok, its here, no biggie

Does anyone have a list of the Chapters along with Time Stamps… No Table of Contents show up in my version of QuickTime 7.6.9, iTunes, WIndows Media Player, and was unsuccessful getting both iPad or iPhone to recognize the file format.

My download consisted of two files one in a Mac OS folder, and another SWA Complete Cubase 6 file that’s 1.3 gig… With an unknown format (with a generic icon).

I am able to view the video but only as one long Movie, and watching 2:44 hours of a tutorial in one sitting isn’t going to cut it.

Ive check the FAQ, and it’s more concern why they won’t refund your purchase bc of server issues yada yada… And the “Support Department” seems to be on an extended lunch break…

I’m too afraid to attempt to download the file again, the first time took waaaaaaaaaay toooooooo loooooong!

Any help would be greatly appreciated, tried watching this on both XP and Win7 machines.

I recall having to add a m4v extension to the file (SWA Complete Cubase 6.m4v) for it to play properly. In QuickTime, the chapter selection is found towards the bottom right corner of the player window. It shows “Chapter 1…”. Click it to see and select the other chapters. BTW, I’m using Win7x64 and QuickTime Player 7.6.9.

The best thing to do (of course) is to ditch the Mac and get a more reliable PC

Chapter 1. Theory of Operations
Chapter 2, 9:35 - Advanced Set Up
Chapter 3, 20:17 - Audio Tools
Chapter 5, 42:55 - Working with the Pool (No Chapter 4 heading in my T.O.C. )
Chapter 6, 52:18 - Media Bay
Chapter 7, 1:06:39 - Plug Ins
Chapter 8, 1:16:32 - VST Instruments
Chapter 9, 1:30:54 - Workflow
Chapter 10, 1:21:41 - MIDI
Chapter 11, 1:55:06 - Working With Video , The Score
Chapter 12, 2:01:40 - Groove Agent 1
Chapter 13, 2:12:41 - Automation, Multiband Compression
Chapter 14, 2:23:16 - Control Room
Chapter 15, 2:35:45 - Surrond Sound Fundamentals

just downloaded both the video and additional content now with no issue whatsoever, it downloaded at the maximum my connection offers for 100% of the download.

I don’t know if I’m missing something, but in both iTunes and Quicktime, I can’t find a fine-control “Fast Forward/Rewind” button. I have to sort of put the mouse next to the little play cursor, but since all two and a half hours are on one timeline, it virtually impossible to back up “a few seconds” - it always turns out to be in chunks of minutes at a time.

How is anyone else doing that? I can’t open it with any other program but Qucktime and iTunes.

Thanks -

anyidea how to make it work on iPod as stated is does by the website? going work today and would have been nice to watch to pass the time. i try to drag it onto the ipod from within itunes and it refuses saying it will not play on the device.

i know it’s not exactly Cubase related but I thought I’d give a heads up about SWA’s new Melodyne tutorial. Just bought it and it’s looking good.

Well, is a very well done tutorial, information-wise and video quality, both. I hesitated because I had one for SX3 and the video quality wasn’t that good, basically bad youtube quality, (and I have no idea if it was done by the same folks, actually). HOWEVER…this video work is excellent! So thanks to Chris and Team, and all the posters here who said it was worthwhile. It is!

I, too, wish it was DVD formatted but I will make due. As to loading it on my iPod, I am trying that right now. Since it’s a Quicktime format I can’t see why it can’t happen. I have two Quicktime format films on there right now, seems simple enough, will get back on this.

OK, it loaded onto iTunes, all 1.3G in about 3 minutes from a flashdrive - and it will play in iTunes, no problem.

OK, but it will NOT load onto my iPod Classic 80G. :smiling_imp: I am told by the iTunes program that this is a file that cannot be loaded on my iPod. WTF?

I submitted a question/complaint on this at the SWA site, BTW, Ticket Number: 32F-156405CD-DE68.

…no problems with the tutorial on my i-phone4.
I suggest rather to look on apple-forums than sending a complaint to swa, seems a problem of your ipod? did you update?

What? Apple might be at fault? Say it isn’t so! :astonished:

Ha! Well, I don’t know what planet you guys live on but I can’t open itunes on my computer without being advised that there is a new update - and I always update. Do I have a choice?

Anyway, I am thinking that the reference to iPod by SWA is all about Apple phones and later versions of iPods. Eh, which is too bad for me. Still, SWA might want to change the fine print, I’m just saying. No response from SWA, BTW, I guess they took my $30 and ran. Oh well, nice tutorial and very helpful even if not that mobile in my case.

So, owners of the iPod Classic 80G - you’ve been warned! :open_mouth:

I went ahead and purchased the Cubase6 tutorial.

Using windows7 explorer, it predicted 6 hours approx download time. I went ahead.

After 4 hours 10mins at 56ks/sec, I lost the connection. Impossible to resume.

Visited SWA website, and noticed Firefox had the resume facility, so I installed Firefox, then tried downloading again with Firefox.

The whole 1.03 GB downloaded in 29 minutes in Firefox. Same computer, same modem.

Does anyone know why such a difference between Firefox and Explorer, and of course, I will be using Firefox permanently from now on.

regards

Yeah, I think so. Look on your Explorer page and click on ‘Tools’. The first line there wil say ’ Delete Browsing History’. Click on this. Then look further down the list, the last line, ’ Internet Options’. Click on this. Go to the last tab, ‘Advanced’. Click on the button that says ‘Reset’. That should do it.

I downloaded the file using 1.5mb wireless router and it took…hm, I dunno for sure, maybe 1 1/2 hours? Firefox really delivered for you there, no doubt, but I think their browser has too many bells and whistles. And maybe too much tracking for that matter. Hey, but give it a go.

Tracking? You’d rather use IE? :unamused:

Thanks guys for the input.
Firefox just for big downloads then.

regards

Hi folks,

Just want to field the questions regarding iPods (and while I am at it iPhones). We did change this on the product page. The thing is that the video is an HD 720p video, only the iPhone 4 and 4th Gen iPod Touches (and of course iPads) can play HD videos. So you will not be able to transfer the video to a device that does not support HD files.

Thanks,
Chris
