Purchased Swiss Piano 1860. Downloaded it and Dorico with Steinberg Download Assistant. Ran Activation Manager on it and Dorico 5.x which I understood contains HALion 7.1.10. Launched HALion Sonic. Can play factory instruments but the Swiss Piano 1860 is not there. When I search my computer for the Swiss Piano download in Downloads > Steinberg > OSX > Swiss Grand 1860 the folder is completely empty. I freely admit I have no idea what I’m doing, I just wanted to play the instrument on my midi controller. But I’m having no luck making that happen. I have searched for info on how to install the instrument in HALion Sonic, and nothing helps. What am I missing?
Very odd: it just appeared 5 hours after I wrote this and relaunched the HALion app.
Hi @TimTom glad it solved like that.
The first scans for libraries sometimes take a little longer. This should not take so long in the future.
As a good measure, it is always advisable to close all the Steinberg programs while installing content, as they sometimes don’t realize what happens “behind their back”.
A small hint, since You wrote “…contains HALion 7.1.10…”
There is a difference between HALion Sonic 7 and HALion 7. The latter is a full fledged sound and instrument programming environment, available seperately. HALion Sonic 7 is more geared towards musicians for composing and performance.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out, if you should encounter any issues in the future. I hope you enjoy the sound of this piano and of the libraries included with Dorico.
