Synchronize Plug-in Program Selection to Track Selection

This is an option in the preferences. It doesn’t work like I expect. Am I missing something?

To my understanding this should work like this:

Open a plugin that’s on ch.1 insert 3 - for example.

Select ch.2. The plugin editor window should change to the plugin that is inserted on insert 3 of the newly selected channel.

Really?

I need this, is this new in V14?

It doesn’t seem to work.

I’ve been looking for ways to make this happen but so far just found workarounds. Never seen this setting before, but on having a look in my preferences it was already activated.

Looks like it’s not doing what either of us would hope for:

Synchronize Plug-in Program Selection to Track Selection

Synchronizes track and plug-in program selection if you route multiple MIDI tracks to multitimbral instruments.

Oh, now I get it. This just refers to inserting the same plug-in on selected tracks.

It’s not about opening the plug-in editor window (on the same insert number) on different track selection. Pity, I really need this.

if nuendo/cubase could open diferent insert plugins by selecting another track, that bould be a HUGE workflow improvement (at leas form my side).

I know it is not the same, but there are key commands you can map to open/close each insert on a selected track.

So what you can do map a few to a separate numpad (ReWASD lets you remap different key commands to different input devices, so this numpad can output like ctrl+shift+alt 1 when you press 1 on it, so it gets out of the way of other key commands), and then the process is reduced to “press key select new track press key”. Thats quicker then closing and opening by mouse each insert, at least.

I believe, WaveLab does something in the way of what is being discussed.

Mine too!

Thanks for this. I’ve figured out how to get my SSL UF8 to open plugin GUIs on the first 8 insert slots, which works really well.

Thanks for this. I haven’t looked yet, but will.
