Greetings, All,
I’m running Dorico Pro 5 on a desktop and a laptop (both Macs). Is there a way to sync custom key commands between machines? I’m wondering if this might be possible by storing the key command file at Dropbox, iCloud, or something similar, which is mirrored on both Macs?
Thanks as always…

Were I to do this now, without knowing of a more elegant way, I would use Carbon Copy Cloner to copy just the key commands file from the User library to a cloud location, then using another cloning task on the second machine to copy it from the cloud location to the User library, ensuring that it always gets overwritten.
This has the downside of having a master computer which is always a step ahead, so possibly not what you are looking for.
Thanks very kindly for the reply, @MicheleGalvagno.
I’ve never considered using Carbon Copy Cloner with a cloud location. For the second machine, I’m also using CCC?
I don’t mind the first machine being a little ahead of the second…
Thanks again.
Yes, indeed.
A single CCC license covers all the computers in a single personal household.
I suggest setting it this was:
- on computer A, set up a cloning task to copy the key commands JSON file to the chosen cloud location — set this to repeat automatically at the desired interval, e.g. 1 week
- on computer B, set up a cloning task to copy the key commands JSON file down from the cloud location to the User Library. Set it also to repeat automatically, perhaps one day after the previous operation.
Of course, to do this, you need to give CCC Full Disk Access, which I think it already has in general, but am not sure now.
This is probably a recipe for disaster, but… would it be possible to create aliases for a master keycommands.json file in a cloud, and then put the aliases in the mac application support library location?
I don’t know enough about the possible hiccups here, hence the disaster reference.
