Synth VST playback and NotePerformer in the same project?

I use NotePerformer for playback in Dorico. I’m beginning a project where I’d like to sketch out ideas in Dorico before I fine-tune them in Cubase. I’m doing this because I’m new to working in a DAW, and I’m still most comfortable working notation-first.

The project is going to use synth sounds alongside conventional orchestral sounds. To my knowledge, NotePerformer doesn’t have any in-built synths. I’d rather not go to the trouble of mapping all my orchestral VSTs to tracks in Dorico just to have to duplicate that work in Cubase, so is it possible to use NotePerformer for just the orchestral sounds and also mix in playback of other VSTs in the same project? If so, how would one set that up? Anyone have a link to a good tutorial on the subject?

You cannot use NP in Cubase.

He has orchestral VSTs for Cubase.

Yes, you can easily add the synth to Dorico in Play mode. If this is a one-off project, apply the noteperformer playback template and load the synth into the VST rack followed by routing the player correctly. If you want to reuse the setup, you can either save as Project Template or create a Playback Template.
