Tacet text hide?

I want to keep the Tacet multi-rest but hide the text. How do I do that?

There should be a multi-bar rest somewhere else.

In Engraving Options, you can specify how a multirest at the end of a piece appears.

Is there a way to hide just the “Tacet” text—without the numbers—at the end?

No, probably because musicians wouldn’t know how to interpret a multi-bar rest that doesn’t have either a number or ‘tacet’ over it.

If you really want to accomplish this, you can drag the ‘tacet’ off the page in Engrave mode. (You should be able to change the color or opacity of the ‘tacet’ instead, but that doesn’t seem to work.)

So, is there a way to move just the “Tacet” text upward from that position?

In other places, In the other parts, the multibar rest numbers are centered.

Yes, as I said, you can do this in Engrave mode.

Is the font size of the “Tacet” text adjusted in the Paragraph Styles?

It’s a Font Style, not a Paragraph Style – Multi-bar Rest Tacet Font.

(There seems to be a small bug here: right-clicking the ‘tacet’ and choosing Edit Font takes you to Multi-bar Rest Bar Count Font or Plain Font, depending on settings, not to Tacet Font. issue)

Thanks.

I’m trying to add text over the “tacet” text that I’ve moved to the top, but even when I use “Text” and select “Erase Background,” the original “tacet” text isn’t being hidden. What should I do in this case?

Why don’t you just drag the original ‘tacet’ off the page? Then you don’t need to worry about covering it up with something else.

I need to add more text, so I have to cover up the existing text.

I don’t understand. If you move the existing text out of the way, then there’s nothing to cover up.

Another thing you could do is make the background of the text you’re adding an explicit white. This should hide whatever is behind it.

I solved it by moving it outside.

Even if I add a white background to the text, it still appears to overlap the image rather than covering it.
