Nice work on this. Definitely sounds like you know your way around a rock song “from a certain time and place”. I’m hearing a bit of the groove from Toto’s Rosanna in the drum part and feel, and your very good vocal reminded me in your higher range of the very first things that Ambrosia was known for like Holding on to Yesterday or Nice, Nice, Very Nice. Loved the pinched harmonic on the guitar too. I guess that makes my time and place reference pre-hair metal SoCal circa the late 70’s and early 80’s. Nothing bad in any of that. People played and sang well there and then and made some very good quality recordings.

I had originally planned to do the whole thing with the band I play pubs with now, but since we’re all working and gigging, kids etc, it’s so hard to find the time, so I’m just gonna snatch some time when I can get it and just try to get em finished now. I guess the good thing is, now you can release each song as & when they’re done rather than wait until the whole album is finished. I might be way too old by then!
You certainly know your way around that guitar, this is a very professional sounding mix with very professional playing.
This is my first visit to the Lounge, and after listening to your track it’s definitely not going to be my last.

I did actually just slightly tweak the mix for the release. I thought the crash cymbals just needed a little taming and the bass was a little thin. Very tiny changes tho.
I bought some Sennheiser HD600 headphones last year and mixing with those has really made a world of difference for me.

This is the radio edit with the mix I did for the release, the difference is very subtle, you might not even notice. I decided to do a clean version, cos I hope to finish this album soon and maybe take it to a few local radio stations to play it and promote it a little bit. I’m too old to be chasing fame and fortune, but hopefully get some listeners and keep making some more tunes.
