Hope everyone is having a great day! I copied my template file from my old computer to my new one. However, when I open it, the score and all the individual parts have no bars. What do I do? Thanks for your help1
Have you entered a meter? Without a meter Dorico doesn’t know how big to make the bars.
There’s nothing on any of the pages. Whether that’s being for the score or for individual parts. This is what the file looks like when opening it.
Like, where did all my bars go? Especially in the score. I have about 20 instruments for my template.
If you go to setup mode, what do you see?
I see all of my instruments.
On the lefthand pannel.
If you look in the Flows panel in Setup mode, do you see a flow there? If not, try creating one.
There are (at least) three ways you could open a template project. You could:
- Open it directly, either within Dorico via File > Open, or by e.g. double-clicking it in the operating system;
- Use the File menu to choose New From Template and then your template; or
- Use the Create New page of the Hub to start a new project.
Methods 1 and 2 will open the project without creating a new flow; method 3 will do whatever you specify on the right-hand side of the Create New page. Try creating a project from your template using method 3.
I opened the template as if it was a “standard” Dorico file. I was in the opening section of Dorico, I went to to File > Open File > I selected my template. Then that’s when I noticed I have no bars. But to answer your question Daniel, no there isn’t a flow started with this file.
I just added a new flow. The weird thing when I did that is Dorico started to number the flow at 2 instead of 1.
I can access the project templates inside of Dorico, but shouldn’t the files be in Dorico’s project template folder the File Explorer directory?
If you want to use your project as a template that appears in the File > New From Template menu and on the Create New page of the Hub, use File > Save as Project Template.
Correct, but I’m meaning the project templeates that come with Dorico. Shouldn’t the project templates that come with Dorico, for Windows, be in the following directory:
C:\Users\dakot\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg\Dorico 5\Project Templates
No. The default project templates are not Dorico projects, but rather they are recipes for Dorico projects, and for those templates Dorico creates a project from scratch rather than loads an existing project file.
