Tempo equations don't play correctly in 5.1.50

I regret to report that tempo equations don’t play correctly in Dorico 5.1.50. The problem is easy to reproduce. Just enter any tempo, write a few bars of, say, quarter notes, and enter any tempo equation. The new tempo will not be the expected result of that equation.

It works for me.

I entered 4 bars of quarter notes, added a q=h tempo equation, and the Tempo indicator in the Transport panel changes from q=100 to h=100.

Can you upload your project?

You are right. Apparently this only happens with files created in older versions. This file was created in 5.1.40. If I write the same tempo equation in a new file, it works, but not here. I also tried this with an older file. Same result. But if I write the equation in a new file, it works correctly.

I think it is the molto rit. that you have before the equation. Remove it and it works fine.

Dorico won’t play the original tempo unless you tell it to (with an a tempo etc.) So at the end of the rit., the tempo is actually 9bpm. Remove the equation and you will see.

Please try this again in the new Dorico 5.1.51 update, released this morning.

Damn! Why didn’t I see that? Okay. That works in that file, true, but the other file I mentioned doesn’t have a ritardando and the tempo equation doesn’t work (and it did in 5.1.40). I hope the patch Daniel mentions fixes that.
Thanks!

Wonderful! Thank you, Daniel!

Just to confirm that the problem I had with the tempo equations in some files is now fixed. Thanks to the whole team!
