Hello, all.
In Dorico, is it possible to make both part of a duo show tempo marks on the score? I tried using the Layout Option (as shown in the screenshot), but the lower staff of the duo still won’t show tempo indications. The staff in question is a player that uses both vibraphone and unpitched percussion (notice all the check marks in the screenshot). Has anyone discovered a work-around for this issue?
If the instruments are of different families, this feature works only if they don’t share a bracket. You can try to change the brackets in Layout Options, or try splitting the bracket in Engrave mode. Select select the bracket, then select the upper control point and press alt(option) and the down arrow key until the bracket splits as desired.
Thanks for the reply, Christian!
Unfortunately, it appears that because I’m using two soloists Dorico won’t let me show tempo on the lower staff regardless of whether or not it has a bracket. I just selected “Use Bracket” for “Bracketed groups with only one instrument” in Layout Options. It successfully put brackets on single-staff instruments, but I still didn’t get tempo marks for both players. There is a place where the percussionist uses both vibraphone and unpitched percussion at the same time (making that player have two staves) at at that point that player does get tempo marks. So it seems that as long as a player only has one staff, Dorico won’t let it show tempo markings. Compare the two “slices” I’m including here. Both slices are from the same project.
