Temporary closure of the Steinberg online shop

I have just made a successful purchase of the SpectraLayers Pro 10 update in the preview shop.

Everything went perfectly smoothly. No issues at all.

I’d like to give a shout out to @dspreadbury and the Steinberg team. They have handled this unfortunate situation with professionalism and aplomb. The real-time updates with meaningful information are very much appreciated.

Cheers!

What i get is the once German designed and controlled software i’ve been using for the last 34 years in now under the good old US of A market control … To be honest i was shocked that Steinberg took the approach of shutting shop because of the reports from the American investigation agencies , even nothing was mentioned in Germany , this is a WORLD not all people enjoy a civilization trying to control and destroy this big round beautiful thing we live on in the name of global domination .
I’m here for the Germany technology i bought into all those years ago but to be honest now i’m not so sure , the US is too volatile .
Ok Here’s the outside world :
UK Medicines controlled by USA
Credit Limit’s controlled by the USA
UN controlled by the USA
Investigation agents of the USA seem to think they control the world .

And you want me to chill ?
Just another one bits the dust ?
34 years of European domination of the audio market can now just be switched off just at a click of a finger if the good old US of A doesn’t like something .

That my dear friend is exactly how i see things right now .
Let me be clear, i have nothing against the average Joe Blogs from across the pond and this is NO personal attack on any individual ,we are all stardust ,but the powers of the USA controlling my music environment ? i’m going to have a long hard think on this one .

Which is owned by the Japanese, btw.

Just wanted to write that

Just…wow. I mean, really, you are taking this WAY too seriously. It isn’t some big sinister plot to help the U.S. take over the world. It’s a business contract with a global company that happens to have their HQ in the U.S.

You’re thinking way too much into this. Sorry you dislike the U.S and everything that comes from it., but you are overreacting.

@Highly-Controversial
i heard from an unconfirmed source, that next year the US will host the Eurovision and they will win the first place !!

I’m not seeing a way to message you either. Am I missing something? Would love the discount code.

Brent

Ohhhh if only that was true , it would make my day

im sure it would haha… even your nick name suggests that

A long established Japanese company with a fine reputation and a significant history in the music industry.

thank you, all went well. also it felt smoother than with Asknet.

thank you again for the opportunity!

I’Ve just bought Dorico Elements in the new shop. From Germany and using Paypal as payment method all went smoothly.

It also seems the shop reacts faster or may I say “snappier” than the old shop.

Looks goog to me.

And now bring on Cubase 13

I don’t understand how placing an order, payment processed through a US company, means your money is controlled by the USA …

Why is the Steinberg Online Shop in Canada so much more expensive than buying from another retailer in Canada (or buying in the US even after currency conversion)?

e.g.

In Canada:

WaveLab Pro
Long & McQuade: CAD 649.99
Tom Lee Music: CAD 649.99
Steinberg Online Shop: CAD 753.00
difference: 16%

Dorico Pro 5:
Long & McQuade: CAD 769.99
Steinberg Online Shop: CAD 874.00
difference: 13.5%

Nuendo 12
Long & McQuade: CAD 1299.99
Tom Lee Music : CAD 1299.99
Steinberg Online Shop: CAD 1508.00
difference: 16%

Don’t worry: the meds are probably made in China.

Once you buy the software, it’s not your money any more.

Those payments end up transiting global networks no matter what we think about that. That’s true whether it is credit/debit cards, ACH, Paypal, Apple Pay, Venmo, Zelle, Bitcoin or you name it. Money knows no boundaries in today’s world.

try now. I have raised your permissions level to baisc from new.

Sorry to tag you here @dspreadbury , but I am a Steinberg forum noob and can’t seem to figure how to send a DM. Anyway, I wanted to inquire whether it’s possible to add me to the preview sale event? I am a Cubase 12 Pro, Halion 7 and Iconica user and sort of have my eye on Spectralayers 10.

Apologies in advance if I just violated some forum etiquette rules! Cheers and best regards from The Netherlands.
