Text objects colliding - Rehearsal Marks

Hi folks,

Small but annoying thing pops up: I’m using Rehearsal marks-text style (probably customized it to have a border, don’t remember exactly..), and they occasionally collide with other stuff. Attaching a couple of screenshots, and will provide the file if someone could take a look and see if there would be a solution.

Thanks

Jussi L.

No, and this has been a problem for a long time. I wish there was collision avoidance with bar numbers at system start. Currently, there isn’t.

You can avoid this by not positioning the rehearsal marks on the systemic barline
(Engraving options>Rehearsal Marks>Horizontal position…)
Though this is a compromise.

Thanks,

yes, it would be nice if the collision was avoided altogether. In the meantime, a workaround was to tweak things, by lowering the bar numbers slightly (Engraving rules) and using the the “Distance from staff” in Paragraph styles.

Janus, true, but in my case I’m just using a Rehearsal Marks text style, not the actual Rehearsal marks-feature.

thanks, best,

Jussi L.

Do you mean paragraph style? Could you create another style with different offsets? (Not at my computer, so I can’t play around with this!)

My suggestion is to duplicate the paragraph style, increase either the Horizontal offset or the Distance from staff and assign this to the occurrences where the mark is at the beginning of the system

Do the bar numbers have to be above the staff? I have them set to below and I very rarely have any clashes

yes, sorry, Paragraph style

yes, You’re right, on some works that’s definitely what I’m doing, but the more classical-oriented jobs require them above staff.
