Text Parameter missing in Note Editor

Hello,

I installed Cubase 15 this morning and three issues I observed so far:

  • Text-Parameter is missing in Note-Editor, so I have no possibility to enter text for the Omnivocal plugin
  • A complete freeze happened after I wanted to load a plugin (Serum 2). And with complete freeze I mean, it was not possible to close anything from my Cubase windows distributed over 2 screens. Not even killing with Task-Manager was possible. I’ve never seen this in my entire life since I started to use Windows (since 1995). When I did shutdown my PC, it was even blocking the shutdown and I had to click on “restart anyway”.
  • The melodic editor option is missing for some use-cases. For example if I have already an instrument track created and loaded, then there’s no option to get to the melodic editor, similar like with the drum-editor. You can change from the inspector view to select “pattern event” but after that when you click on the midi-event there’s no way to choose the melodic editor. So the only way to come to this screen is to load a track from scratch and choose “Event Type = Pattern Event” to provoke the dialog to appear where I can choose then “Select Pattern Editor Mode” → Melodic. It seems for me that the feature was not fully implemented yet

Cheers Paddy

Hi,

Are you talking about Cubase Pro 15?

Right-click on the Info Line in the Key Editor and enable the Text option in the Set up Info Line. If you still can’t see it, resize the window horizontally, or change the elements’ order in the Set up Info Line.

Generate a DMP file and share it via Dropbox or a similar service, please.

Use the Microsoft ProcDump utility to generate a DMP file, please.

  1. Please download ProcDump64 from Microsoft (~650kB) and extract the archive to a local folder on your hard disk.

  2. Run Command Prompt (cmd) as administrator (right click and select “run as administrator”)

  3. Navigate (in the Command Prompt) to the folder with the extracted procdump file.
    For example:
    cd C:\ Users \ \ Downloads \ Procdump
Note: the dmp file will be written into that folder.

  4. Launch Cubase/Nuendo. You can work as usual. At any time, change to the command prompt and start procdump, to monitor Cubase/Nuendo for unexpected behaviour (see next step).

  5. Launch procdump64 via Command Prompt:
    Cubase:
    procdump64 -e -h -t Cubase

Nuendo:
procdump64 -e -h -t Nuendo

The -h option will write a dmp file in case of an application hang. This might kick in too early sometimes, in case some action takes a little longer. Feel free to skip the “-h” option, if you are only up for fetching crashes.
The option -e will catch exceptions and the option -t terminations of the application.

  1. Prodump is now monitoring the Cubase/Nuendo process and will write a crash log, in case Cubase/Nuendo crashes or hangs. Perform the action that causes Cubase/Nuendo to crash and send us the generated crash dmp.

ZIP and share the DMP file via Dropbox or a similar service, please.

You can change the MIDI Part to the Pattern Event in the Inspector. Then, once you draw a new MIDI Part, it becomes the Pattern Event, where you can choose either Drums or Melodic.

You cannot convert a MIDI Part to the Pattern Event.

Hi Martin,

the option for the Text-Parameter is already clicked, but it doesn’t appear.

Hi,

Then…

Yes that did the trick. But why can’t I see all the elements in the Parameter Bar? I would expect that either the parameter-bar becomes two lines if it’s full, or it doesn’t allow me to choose so many parameters, without notifying me that they are then hidden.

Hi,

Do you mean the Info Line? Because there is no place anymore.

If you mean Info line, it has been designed as a single-line object.

Yes I meant the Info Line. Sorry.

Ok, maybe the single-line-object could be inherited from an object with a scrollbar?

Hi Martin. The freezes reappeared three times today. At least once Cubase reported a “freeze” when I reopned Cubase with a dmp file. Please find attached the dmp-file.

Can you please check it? It’s very annoying. I can’t terminate the task and it even hides all my other window GUI elements. When I shutdown the PC, the PC wasn’t even fully shutdown and got stuck in the shutdown-process.

Thanks

Paddy

Cubase 15.0.5 64bit 2025.11.10 10.30.10.665-freezedump.dmp (3.4 MB)

Now I got a crash without a freeze, while I was running the procdump-tool in the background. Attached is the log-date from the cmd-window.

The crash appeared after I loaded my project, let it run, started to record a drum loop and when I hit a note in my Novation Launchpad, the crash appeared. So it seemed, when it wanted to start the sound in Groove Agent SE, the issue appeared.

Hi,

Reported to Steinberg. Thank you. This crash came from Groove Agent.
