Hello. I am trying to change the piano score that is currently input as flute to clarinet. Clarinet is in the key of G. Piano is in the key of F. Can I change it? Thank you.
Just change the Flute to Clarinet in Setup Mode, and then go to Write Mode and change the key signature to F. (popover: 1f)
Sorry, I missed a step. And now that I look again at your first image, I’m not sure what your starting point was.
Did you originally enter this music in the key of G for flute and piano?
If so, then my first step was correct: In setup mode, change the flute to a clarinet. Now you have this:
The piece is still in G; the clarinet has an A major key signature because it’s a transposing instrument. Now you have to transpose the piece, not just change the key signature.
Select All (Ctrl/Cmd+A), then do Write > Transpose. Set the options to transpose down a major second, and make sure that “Transpose key signatures” is checked.
Now you’ve got this, which I think is what you want:
This is all with viewing in Transposed Pitch.
If you view in Concert Pitch, then the clarinet and piano will both look like they’re in F.
I did as you said. But I’m still in the key of G. As you said, the clarinet should be in the key of A, but it’s still in the key of G. Why doesn’t it change? Is something wrong?
Sorry, I see it now. I understand.
Just to add a little more for beginners with Dorico, the score can be seen in either Concert key or Transposed (each transposing instrument showing the music in their own key).
Edit menu you can select either Concert Pitch or Transposed Pitch, or bottom left, click the one you require at the time.
Yes, thank you.
