The easiest way to write tuplets with a mouse?

I don’t know why I have so much trouble. Thank you.

Mike

  1. Enter Note Input mode.
  2. Make sure you have the correct duration selected (eighth note, quarter note, etc.).
  3. By default, the tuplet button in the left panel displays the ratio 3:2. If that’s what you want (normal triplet), then just click it; otherwise, click and hold to either pick a new ratio or pick x:y, which opens the popover (where you can enter whatever ratio you want). The tuplet button turns blue.
  4. Now you’re in tuplet mode and can enter your notes.
  5. Tuplet mode is sticky, so when you want to return to non-tuplet mode, click the toolbar button again so that it is no longer blue.

Here’s an example. I did note entry with my keyboard, but I used the mouse to go into and out of tuplet mode.
