The engine for Waves plugins sucks

Now, when you update your OS, can you update the plugins without having to re-purchase the versions that are compatible with your system?

I know I never purchased again any plugins of theirs.

As a Mac user, they basically DO have a subscription whether you want it or not, and that’s WUP. Almost every time MacOS gets new version, the Waves stuff stops working for whatever reason. If you don’t pay your WUP, you don’t get the latest updates unless you just happened to buy the plugin recently.. Windows are a bit different as those tend to stretch waaaaaaaaaaaaaay longer than a MacOS release, so you can get away with using your old stuff for longer before you HAVE to update it.

Damn right! I haven’t used my Mac for this stuff in a long time. The only time I did a clean install, probably I had bought those plugins fairly recently. But I hear you, I would never use them if I had to pay for that WUP thing.

Conclusion is, Waves plugins perhaps don’t suck, but the company does, and it’s better to find alternatives that don’t cripple your system, Mac or PC.
