The Straw That Broke This Camel's Back

The ability to switch VST1 collections when changing an instrument - him gone!

Cubase 13

Kudos to all you guys that can cope with all these pointless changes. I’ve had it.

EDIT: fortunately still works in the Inspector

Original: My Cubase 13.0.30 on Win10 22H2 shows my collections just fine:

Mine too, windows 11 7950x and MacOS Sonoma MBP M1 max

to the OP I’d trash your prefs and see if that sorts it.

Nah, the difference here is that before they were accessible in the Instrument drop down menu available from Track Controls, and now it’s only accessible from the Inspector. The Track Controls Instrument selector will now only display from the last used collection. A trivial, but arguably pointless change.

And I agree - it is trivial. And also pointless. And there are so many such trivial changes that, for me, it is no longer trivial. Sticking with 12, for now.
As always, ymmv.

ahhh - that makes more sense now …

The irony is that, with the.30 update, Cubase 13 is the most stable version ever. I mean, in about 50-60 hours of use (since Nov - I’ve been using 12 mostly) - zero crashes. None.
I don’t get inspired much, these days, but when I do, the smallest thing can make it evaporate. And this kind of trivial change is one them.
Remember, I’ve been using Cubase for 30 years. Most of the changes had some point to them.
There’s a lot to like in 13, I just can’t handle all the tiny changes.

yep, working well here too stability wise. I suppose you’re option is to try another DAW if it bothers you enough but that’s also a lot of work/inverstment.

M

No need to change DAWs, just keeping with 12.

Yeh, I’m not at all happy with all these unnecessary changes either. I’ve also been using Cubase for a long time. Learning how to re-find everything is a big frustration.
Change it back, Steinberg!
