The VST Bridge in Cubase 6 is a nice surprise!

Some yeas ago I had to give op many of my plugins because of a system upgrade - I think it was. Some days ago I loaded up a song from far far away in the past, the days of Cubase VST. Yes, thats long time ago. I used the Cubase SX3 to import it and then opened it in Cubase 6. The SX3 stated there was a Model-E plugin missing. So I thought, yes, I have that CD somewhere. And I downloaded a new installer from Steinberg (Support > Download Archive (FTP Server)), putted in the CD and started the installer. All went fine and then I started Cubase 6 - and there it was! After all these years I was looking at the Model-E plugin. Great. Well, then I started installing all my good old stuff. What a great feeling.

Model-E
SupaPhaser
Karlette
A1
Dcota
Groove Agent
Hypersonic
Xphraze
Neon
cs40
Virtual Electric Guitar
Virtual Acoustic Guitar
VG Electric FX
VG Electric Edition
Plex
VoiceMachineGenerator
VoiceMachineProcessor

TC Works
TC Spark

There was some pops and cracks in the VoiceMachine, But I could replace it with the Antares Harmony Engine, and with smaller modifications I was up and running.

I am having problems with the Dcota interface - the knobs are not moving but the mouse movements make changes.

The only plugin that did not show up in Cubase 6 was the JX16, but it works in Cubase SX3.

This was a great surprise for me.

From your list, I can’t get these to show up:

Karlette
A1
Dcota
Groove Agent
Neon
cs40
Virtual Electric Guitar
Virtual Acoustic Guitar

And again, from your list, these do show up and work over here:

Model-E
SupaPhaser
Hypersonic
Xphraze

The odd thing is that this is not isolated to my main studio machine, but all three.
I’ve been down the Prefectomy™/refresh road with this and nothing will bring this stuff back.

I’ve even had to use C4 versions of Embracer and Monologue because the supplied versions with the 6.0.1 version won’t work here.

I can live without most of that stuff…so I don’t really care…but I do find it curious that it will show up in some systems but not others.

Her is where I got them from:

Karlette - inside the Cubase SX folder - copied it to the “global” vst foldor on Mac
A1 - inside the Cubase SX folder - copied it to the “global” vst foldor on Mac
Dcota - Installed from the original disk - Installer from the Steinberg ftp server
Groove Agent - Installed from the original disk - Installer from the Steinberg ftp server
Neon - inside the Cubase SX folder - copied it to the “global” vst foldor on Mac
cs40 - inside the Cubase SX folder - copied it to the “global” vst foldor on Mac
Virtual Electric Guitar - Installed from the original disk - Installer from the Steinberg ftp server
Virtual Acoustic Guitar - Installed from the original disk - Installer from the Steinberg ftp server

yes even UAD “works” with it (i buy jbridge before just for that)

I think VSTBridge, to be fair, has probably been improved upon for C6. It clearly isn’t flawless though and several big name plug ins such as Waves don’t work with it. I guess if the VST’s you have work youll think VSTBridge is amazing but if you happen to own that which doesn’t work you’ll see it as a surprising flaw in C6’s capabilities.

As I am running Cubase 6 in 32 bit mode on my Mac. I have no experience in “bridging” from 32 to 64 bit. I run everything in 32 bit (as far as I know), also my Waves Mercury + Studio Classics plugins, and everything runs smoothly.

Im on 10.6.7, I tried to install virtual guitarist from steinberg’s ftp, but installer freezes after the splash screen, when i go to activity monitor, all programs are “intel-mac” kind, but virtual guitarist wise installer is shown as “power-pc”
