There is a problem with the mixdown: the tracks are suddenly out of sync

Hello! Does anyone have any ideas? I’m at a loss. I’ve never had this problem before.

At the end of a mixdown of around two minutes, when a track starts again, it suddenly becomes completely out of sync. When I export in real time, it works. I can’t find anything about this online. What could be causing this?

And no, there is no active tempo track.

regards

How are you gauging it is out of sync, by your ears or by your eyes ?

Hi can you be more specific about what you are doing? The way you write it now makes me think it goes out of sync when you are exporting a non-realtime bounce, but I can’t be sure due to a lack of info. Also what software versions are you running (Nuendo and MacOS) and what sound card and drivers?

Also; “when a track starts again” what do you mean by this?

Hi and yes, out of sync when exporting non realtime. Nuendo 14 and Mac, Sequoia 15.7.2.

My guess is that it has something to do with either an instrument track and the loaded plugin, or one of the inserts. Because, as I said, it never happened before, so it must be a change from before. And only the two mentioned above come into question. I’ll test that out.
(The real-time export is now working, but only after I changed the export settings from 48 kHz and 32-bit float to 44.1 kHz and 16-bit.) Tested again, now working. So no influence. Non-real-time export is still not in sync.
I’ll keep testing, remove FX/Instrument, etc.

P.S.
out of sync when the CR-78 starts again. But no idea why. Start/Stop is triggered via midi. Works fine in the song at the beginning.

P.P.S. Ok found it. It’s the midi trigger start/stop of the CR-78. Just did render in place and the audio file lags almost 3 quarter notes behind. So I have to get this fixed.

Ah music production and plugins

that cr-78 is a real drum machine or a plugin? If a real machine than obv non realtime cannot work..

Just missed your post yeah render first than bounce

Plugin (VST instrument) and for whatever reason, making trouble when

  1. Mixdown song not in realtime
  2. Render in place
  3. Freezing the instrument.

in connection with start/stop triggering via MIDI

Thanks for your patience, but found the reason. It has to do with the so called oversampling mode of this instrument. See the screenshot. Rendering in no real-time only works with the mode normal quality.

Ok perhaps this is not clear from the user interface of nuendo but a real device cannot be user non-realtime. Bare with me on this:

Imagine the drum computer as a human drummer that is listening to audiotory signals (or in your case trigger signals per beat) of the band.

The human needs to process the signals in time to be in the groove with the rest of the song. This is possible at normal speeds but when you sent auditory signals at very high speeds… they cannot do it. It is simply to hard to keep up with the tempo to interpret it.

Now imagine a cpu with multiple cores that all process different instruments of the band (so the players are all in their own studio). But the signals are different for each player (that is how this works) and at 100x the speed.

Your drummer ( your lovely cr78 would not be able to keep up) simply cannot do this.

Sorry my mistake. It is a plugin no real drum machine.
