Tie direction for moving chords

I would expect it to be

and not

(having used Sibelius for many years, which does it like so) and looking at an old Novello engraving it seems to be what they used;

Is this “Gould-rule” supported by Ted Ross et al.?

If not, could perhaps an option be added to Dorico to disregard this rule?

There’s no option for this at present, but it’s something that we could allow in future. I’ve made a note of it.
