I am going nuts. If I tie notes of equal value, Dorico 6 lengthens the notes and does not tie them. Project attached. Try it! Have not seen this before. Just updated to 6.1.10.

That’s normal behaviour, I believe. If you use force duration, then you can tie them.

Andro, I’m not quite getting it… That’s really Dorico 101 behavior, you are seeing this for the first time? Maybe some settings for note grouping or the like have changed?
Dorico has always grouped note durations according to the settings in Notation Options > Note Grouping.
But yes: if you tie 4 quarters together in a bar of 4/4, you’ll get a whole note by default.
