Time signature - changing/insert in the middle

Hi Forum,
I want to extend my 3/4 bar to a 4/4 bar whitout effecting the music after from bar 4 and on
how to?

So, bar 2 becomes a 4/4 bar? What of bar 3?

Do you want the first quarter of bar 3 to move into bar 2, leaving a 2/4 bar?

… Or do you want to add new notes into those bars?

If I assume you want to lengthen bar 3:

  1. Insert a ¾ time signature in bar 4 (otherwise everything that follows will be re-calculated as 4/4)
  2. Activate Insert Mode (shortcut i), so that anything you enter will create extra space for itself, pushing the rest to the right.
  3. Enter a time signature of 4/4 in bar 3.
  4. Deactivate Insert Mode. (In my workflow, I prefer to have it off most of the time)
  5. Adjust the now-lengthened bar 3.

There are several different ways to accomplish this. Here’s one:

  1. Insert a 3/4 time sig in bar 3
  2. Insert a 4/4 time sig in bar 2
  3. Put the cursor on the beat before which you want to insert a beat; if you want to add the beat at the end of the measure, then select the barline
  4. Invoke the bars popover with Shift+B
  5. Type 1q for one quarter, hit Enter

Here’s another:

  1. Put the cursor on the beat before which you want to insert a beat
  2. Activate Insert mode with Global Adjustment of Current Bar

  3. Insert the desired note; the time sigs will adjust themselves

This is the quickest by far.

Just want to add new notes in the bar - I compose on the fly an often change how long the bars will become accordingly to the words pronunciation and stress

Thanks for fast and thorough solutions
