hi am new to wavelab and am on a trial at the moment. I tried to reduce to a set time(ie 59mn 45 seconds) several mp3s . But as you can see from the screenshot though i have set it at so many seconds the target prcentage fixes on the first mp3 file and i cannot deselect it, In fact to get over the problem i created a preset with the percentage deselected and my required time inserted but when i use the preset the percentage jumps back on so each file is reduced as a percentage. The first file is exact 59.45 but the other files as a percentage of their original lenght are showing different lenghts. If anyone can suggest a work around or show me what i am doing wrong that would be much appreciated .Thanks you Paul
ps you will see that my target duration is not selected but that is what it does once i use it ie deselects target duration and slects target stretch factor..In fact you can see faintly my required number of seconds in the field . The other option is to do each file one by one and forget the batch but over time i could be dong this to hundreds of files.
The target duration option is only available in the editor, not in batch mode. There is a reason for this: the time stretch factor has some limits (like 0.1 to 10x). And in batch processing, it is not possible to know in advance the length of files. This means that if you have a file that is one hour long and you specify the target duration should be one minute, that would make a percentage impossible to reach. This is why in batch processor you are limited to specify a percentage.
ah thanks for that. Really appreciate it So basically the time stretch isn’t in batch its a percentage stretch. May be useful for Steinberg to mention that in the manual here especially for dinosaurs like myself!
To open the Time Stretching dialog, select the Process tab in the Audio Editor, and click **
Time Stretching in the Time & Pitch section.
** This dialog is also available as a monopass plug-in in the Batch Processor window.
