TIP: How to set up Ripchord in Cubase

Hi!

This is how you set up the Free Ripchord from Trackbout in Cubase.

  1. Create a track and load Ripchord into it. (I normally use the rack function but I guess VST Instruments will do just fine).
  2. Create a track and load the instrument you want to play the chords from Ripchord.

On the Ripchord track set input to “All MIDI Inputs” or the input device of your choice.
On the Ripchord track set output to"Ripchord - MIDI Input"

On the Instrument track set input to “Ripchord Midi Output”
On the Instrument track set output to the Instrument (in the enclosed picture files SampleTank is used)

Turn the monitor button on Ripchord ON
The Instrument track must be the active track

Now you can load several instruments and set them up according to procedure and they will all get chords from Ripchord.

Incredibly helpful. Setting to monitor always catches me.

Just for others, 2024 Cubase Pro 13 - this does not work, Ripchord seems incompatible now. Sadly.

Has this been updated for Cubase 14 yet?

Correction: after some fiddling retrying in Cubase 15 it does work. Very happy as the CHORD PADS and the CHORDER in Cubase are frankly impossible to make sense of.
