So I only updated to C13 a couple of weeks ago and had no idea C14 was coming. Handily was eligible for the grace period free update. I used C13 for a grand total of 2 weeks lol.
Outside of the inevitable new version teething issues etc I must say the new Drum Machine and Pattern Editor are an awesome addition and something I’ve been looking for for a long time. It’s kind of what I hoped Groove Agent would be in terms of integration into the DAW. I’m on GA5 but I’ve never really … errr… grooved with Groove Agent as a piece of software.
Anyway, make kits out of any audio that’s sitting on your timeline easily and quickly, no much fussing around. Drag and drop a sliver to Drum Machine and easily sequence in loop. I just find it so much quicker than messing around with other plugs and methods. And it has a good feature set that you’d expect from a drum machine. For me immediacy and ease of use are a good judge for a new piece of kit; if you can just jump in without consulting a manual and everything seems intuitive, it’s been developed well. This was my first impression of these features, and I can’t always say that with Steinberg stuff in the past.
So this is a rare occasion of myself praising the devs for a new addition. This will be a bit of game changer for me in my workflow and I might find myself firing up Ableton a bit less for some tasks. Kudos and thanks.
