Title page and flow numbers

Hi there!
I’m looking for a way to have all the parts in my project (and there are many) to have a Title page, basically the same Title page, just with a different part name on it, without having to insert a Title page in every part.
Second question: I don’t want Flow numbers anywhere. My piece has a Prologue, and now it says: 1. Prologue, 2. Part one, and so on. How can I hide and delete all flow numbers without having to do that in every single part?

Thank you!

You should explore Page Templates and Tokens.

I did. But it still means I have to insert a Title page in all parts. An it still means I can’t delete the total amount of flow numbers at once. I never want Flow numbers, never! Is this possible?

You can create a single Part Page Layout that includes a title page.

You can remove Flow numbers by removing the flow number token from the Page Template (and/or Flow header)

I think I don’t express myself all that well, I’m not native English. The Flow Titles don’t appear in the Page Layout, so I think I have to make a Page Layout that includes it. But still i have to insert that, and also the title page, in every single part by hand. Is there a way to insert Title page to all parts at once? And to insert Flow heading mutations, like removed numbers, to every single part at once, without having to open and change every part. There are many, very many parts in my project.

  1. All the parts use the same Page Template set. You can create an additional template (So, “First”, “Default”, and then “Title”).
You will have to apply that Template change to every part.

  2. The Number is a token in the Flow Heading. You can edit the Flow Heading, just like a Page template. Access it in the lower right-hand panel of Engrave mode.

Roel, both answers from Janus and Ben are very correct. Try to follow them exactly, you will be able to get your desired result.
Are you running Dorico in English?

Example: you want no flow number? Go to Engrave Mode, access the Flow Header section at the right (lower section), open the template and delete this bit: {@FlowNumber@} . Press Apply and you are done.

I think I understand. For both my questions there are no shortcuts. I hope there will be in future updates.
I’ll have to invest an afternoon in just manually insert a Title page in every part, and revoving the flow number. It would be extremely helpful for large projects if this could be automated. I’m pretty sure Daniël and his team will work it out. Thank you all for your help en understanding!

When you say “part”, do you mean violin part, viola part, etc. – or do you mean section 1 of your piece, section 2?

If it’s the first one, then the answers you’ve gotten will help you get what you want without needing to adjust each part layout individually.

If it’s the second one, then we’ll try again to find something that works for you.

I mean the first thing. Flute, clarinet, bassoon etc. I can make a title page but I can’t insert it in all parts, I have to insert it in every part manually, right? I don’t have to make ik in each part, it’s already there, but every part should get it, so I have to go to each part and say: insert Title page. Or am I wrong?

And the number thing, I guess, is something I have to find out. It’s not automated now in my project, so I should change that. And that’s a lot of work too. Most of the layout-poopies I have is because I started this piece in Sibelius long ago I never should have imported it. I still get problems all over the place now because of Sibelius not being able to export properly. That might also be part of this problem.

poopies should have been properties. excusez-moi

The Flow heading, you have to change once, and it’s done for all Parts. That’s literally a few seconds.

If the Flow name itself has a number in, then you can delete it in Project Info.

You’re not wrong, but it’s right-click; select, and OK. Move to the Next Part (Alt Shift ] )
You could do one in about 10 seconds.

Wow, this is really helpful, thank you, thank you! Where can I send the krat bier to? (spoiler: dutch)

You can also use the Jumpbar for this, to speed up a little bit: J and then filtering for Insert Page Template Change…, and press Enter. The subsequent times it is enough to press J and (as the last command is remembered) just press Enter to have the dialogue. This saves a couple of right clicks.

All parts starting on page 2 (on a left page) should get a title page.
All parts starting on the right page (1) don’t actually need an aditional title plus empty page.
You could just let them start on their page one.

I really want every part to have a title page.
I just made the “first page” like this:

but still I get this:

I did set that every flow should begin with a “first page” in layout settings. What now?

There is a setting in Layout Options to hide the Flow Title above a Flow Heading – to avoid it appearing twice!

Are you sure you don’t want the PROJECT title?

Yes I’m absolutely sure. I want the project title on the title page, and just the flow title on the first page of every flow. Buf if you look, the “first page” is not the same as the real page, that I marked “first page” in my score. I think this is really a bug.

This is happening now. The real score doesn’t follow the page templates. Why?
