Tool "LoopMidi" for "virtual midi interfaces" stopped working @ Win11 -> solved :-)

Dear all,

Issue: Today my tool “LoopMidi” for “virtual midi interfaces” at my Windows 11 computer became invisible / unsuable.
That means I could not see anymore the virtual midi interface at VST Live”.

But all my midi keyoboards were visible.
Therefor I assumed that the issue was primarily related to this small tool.

A working virtual midi interface is essential for me to synchronize between “VST Live” and my “setlist + music-score-tool Mobile Sheets Pro”.

Solution: I replaced it by a new tool called “LoopBe1”. After a restart of Win11 and a quick re-connection of the new tool in both apps everything worked perfectly again. It seems that “LoopMidi” (source: www.nerds.de) has an issue with the current changes of the Midi-Structure of Win11. “LoopBe1” seems to be better supported and had no issue to work propperly on my computer.

Maybe other user have similar issues.
For me it was an essential issue and I want to share my lessons learned with the community.

Kind regards

Sam

Dear Felician, thanks for your Feedback. I was also using loopmidi last year successfully. But yesterday it stopped working After I installed some Updates. As I did not see any progress on the Homepage of the developer I decided to test another tool because I like apps which are actively supported. The other tool worked compared to LoopMidi which became invisible with its virtual midi port on my windows 11 notebook.

There is another ticket with includes more detailed information. good news: Pete from Microsoft wrote that Win11 will Support with the April Update also Virtual midi ports itself:

Maybe this Information is also relevant / helpful for you. I am a big Fan to reduce complexity. And if this would work it could help to reduce the number of components which can cause error in the Workflow.

Another finding: The reaction time between “VST Live” and “Mobile Sheets Pro” seems to be significantly faster with “LoopBe1” then it was before with “LoopMidi”. I like speed. Befor I thought VST live would need the time for loading. But know i recognized that VST live is much faster in switching which means that before I had a delay in communication. That means I can feel better the speed of VST live :-).

Hi,

There is also a native toolbox built-in Windows 11 here.

Thank you Martin. Have you already tested it? I was told my Steve that the final function will come with the April-Update für Windows 11. As it is a pre-view I am always carefull to use it on a „Production“ / „Live“-Setup.

Hi,

No, I haven’t. I’m a Mac user.
