Track Colors Not Reflected in MixConsole

I’ve been experiencing an issue where the track colors set in my project are not properly reflected in the MixConsole immediately after starting Cubase.

Please refer to the video below to see the issue in action:

In the video, you can see that right after opening the project, Audio 01 is set to blue and Audio 02 to red in the project, but in the MixConsole, the colors appear as a dark, incorrect shade.

I’ve found a temporary workaround: adding a new track to the project seems to make the track colors reflect properly in the MixConsole. This can be observed in the video as well.

Additionally, I’ve noticed that this issue does not occur in the MixConsole displayed in the Lower Zone.

Although this problem does not happen every time, it’s quite annoying when the track colors aren’t displayed correctly in the MixConsole.

I’m experiencing this issue on Windows 10 while using Cubase 12. Is anyone else encountering the same problem?

I don’t have any problems with my colors. Honestly I didn’t quite follow all your explanations, but could this be a setting for you to experiment with?

or check out the user interface-track & mixconsole settings in the preferences?

There are a couple of preferences for this:

The channel Audio 1 does not appear to change color after you added another track and Audio 2 was selected so the actual track color wasn’t shown.
For some reason the very bottom of the channel is only shown in your video after you added the Audio 04 track.

Thank you for sharing one of the workaround methods. By performing “Sync MixConsole and Project,” I was able to reflect the track colors in the MixConsole, just like adding a new track.

However, even if I check “Sync MixConsole and Project” and save the project file, the same issue where track colors are not displayed in the MixConsole still occurs after closing and reopening the project file.

I tested this checkbox, but it did not help resolve the issue.
Thank you.

After some trial and error, I was able to identify the conditions under which this issue occurs. I’m sharing this information here for anyone else who might be struggling with the same problem.

This issue occurs when the MixConsole window has a small number of tracks, so there is no need for horizontal scrolling. In other words, the issue does not happen when a horizontal scrollbar is displayed in the MixConsole. Displaying the scrollbar serves as a workaround for this problem.

To display the scrollbar, you can:

  • Reduce the size of the MixConsole window
  • Zoom in on the MixConsole
  • Increase the number of tracks

Any of these methods will prevent the issue from occurring.

Additionally, I previously mentioned that adding new tracks can resolve the display issue, but I have found that this action can also be replaced by simply zooming within the MixConsole.

That said, this is clearly not an ideal solution. I hope Steinberg will address this issue with a bug fix in the future.

I have discovered an alternative workaround besides “displaying the scrollbar”, so I will share it here.

By keeping either the Left Zone or the Right Zone visible within the MixConsole, this issue does not occur.

If both zones are hidden, the issue of track colors not being reflected in the MixConsole will occur.

I have Cubase 12.0.60 and cannot reproduce your issue. I don’t want to crush your hopes but there won’t be a bug fix for version 12 anymore. 12.0.70 is the final version.
