Transposing a wave file from D major to D minor

Hi,
I’ve looked at the root note function for this, but in this case both are D even though one is major and one is minor. I’ve looked at pitch shift and think the answer might be in there but I’m not certain. Can anyone advise on this?

Many thanks!

Pitch shift can’t change major to minor as individual notes need to change. It’s not a global change.

With monophonic material you may get away with splitting and shifting just the required notes. If it’s polyphonic then you would need something that can do polyphonic tuning within a wav such as SpectraLayers Pro or Melodyne (Editor upwards).

… or Zynaptic Pitchmap

D-minor scale = F-Major scale. So if you transpose D-Major 3 semitones up you’ll get D-Minor (relative F-Major) acale.

Thank you. But how would I do this on a wav file using Cubase 8?

I don’t think it’s clear what you mean by “this” - chords, a melody line, polyphonic lines, a combination of some kind. The specific details of what you are starting with are crucial to giving you an answer.

If what you want to change is a line consisting of single Notes, then do what @Grim suggests above. If your source material has 2 or more Notes playing at the same time, you can’t do it using Cubase. You’ll need to use a different tool, with some suggestions provided above.
