I am trying to use the trial version of Spectralayers to test out the drum remix function.
I download version12 pro but it just says I have to upgrade to pro to use the drums function. Is there any way to fix this? I’ve downloaded different pro versions several times to no avail.
Welcome to the forum! Did you use the Steinberg Activation Manager to actually activate your trial using your registered account, or did you just run the app after downloading it?
In the Activation Manager it says ; SpectraLayers Pro 12 Trial Activated and then the expiry date in March this year.
So it is definitely activated. When I use it in Pro tools it says you must upgrade to Pro to use any module except vocals.
I have re-downloaded it several times now. Is it because I’m using Pro tools?

Oh, It’s Pro Tools telling you that. So you’re trying to use the ARA extension in Pro Tools, at which point Pro Tools tells you IT needs a “Pro” license. Sounds like your PT license doesn’t support using 3rd party ARA/extensions, but hard to tell. I personally can’t help you on that front - I’m not a PT user. If you load SpectraLayers 12 Pro itself as a stand alone app, does it launch properly with the “Pro” designation in the “about” window?
I think it was how I was designating it within Pro tools - I just noticed that when I open Spectralayers in Pro Tools it asks if I want to use two different types of ARA extensions. I used the Revert option and it seems to be working now. Thanks for your help.

The issue isn’t with SpectraLayers itself—it’s Pro Tools restricting ARA modules. Make sure the trial is activated in Steinberg Activation Manager, then use SpectraLayers 12 Pro as a standalone app. In Pro Tools, choose the correct ARA extension or use the “Revert” option to enable full trial functionality.
