The time signature is 2/4. As you can see there are six semiquavers to the beat and instead of writting them long hand I want to be able to abreviate them into a quater note with two strikes across the stem. I can’t work out why the example shows a dotted quater note! I enclose my attempt which is wrong. Test_1.dorico (526.1 KB)

For simplicity you would use ; 6:4x (6 16ths in the time of 4 16ths, as there are 4 16ths in a quarter. x is the Dorico code for 16ths (h=half, q= quarter, e= eighth, x= 16th, y= 32nd, z=64th)
That said you could equally use ;3:2e which has the identical musical affect.
Then the players will likely play 4 16ths on the second beat, instead of two 16th note triplets.
The original notation is meant to indicate that the triplets continue, and then way you get a dotted quarter in that single quarter space is to use a tuplet, as @LAE indicates. (And then you can hide the number.)
