Apologies, I’m a bit of a novice at this. I have a pdf in tenor clef, concert pitch, which I have scanned with ScanScore imported into Dorico. I have the changed the clef to treble, change key from F to G (up one octave and a tone) and set the instrument to Tenor Trombone Bb Treble Clef Transposed Pitch.
The problem I have, is that most of the notes are red, indicating they are out of range, which they aren’t. And on playback it is played an octave higher than it should be. How do I get it to play at the correct pitch and not mark notes out of range.
I have another piece which I did a couple of years ago which works fine, no red notes and plays correctly. The only difference is with that one I input from the keyboard rather than scanning. I can only assume that something I did when importing and converting from tenor clef etc. didn’t do quite what I expected even though the score on screen looks perfect.
Thanks Jesele. That’s what I have already tried, but it doesn’t seem to have worked. Clicking change instrument give a list of choices. From the brass section I chose Tenor Trombone and f from the two choices given I chose Bb Treble Clef Transposed Pitch.
Hi thanks, I think I have worked it out. I had used the Write:Transpose… menu option and transposed the music up the required amount so it was on the correct lines on the stave. However, I think that not only just moves the notes up the stave but changes the actual notes played at concert pitch. What I think I should have done is to use the Edit:Transposed Pitch menu item, which as long as you have defined what instrument is playing, will display the notes correctly as I wanted but without affecting the underlying concert pitch during playback. I think that’s right but either way, it looks the way I want it and sounds the way I want it so I’m happy.
