Trying to get Diminuendo to work in VSL SSPro

Hi All

I’m using Dorico Pro 6 and am trying to trigger diminuendo in SSP Violins 1 using the VSL supplied Ex map. It doesn’t work, at least from Dorico. Crescendo works fine. In Dorico there is a playing technique called crescendo which can be found in the playing techniques pop up. There’s also one called cresc. in the side panel labelled f. There is no playing technique called diminuendo in the playing techniques pop up but there is a dim. in the side panel alongside cresc.

I’m wondering if that’s why I can’t trigger it from the ex. map - key switches work ok. I’ve tried adding dim. as a separate playing technique in the ex. map but it rejects it.

Anyone found a solution to this?

Thanks, CD

Diminuendo is already defined in the ExMap, but as you say the playing technique is only available from the right panel. You can however make a Playing technique and link it to the playback technique Diminuendo - and it will trigger the SY Dynamics/Dim. long (F1,F2). Since the playback technique is defined as an attribute, you must take care to adjust its length (using alt-shift-arrows on Windows)

If you don’t want to trigger the recorded cresc. and dim. samples in the Library, but just trigger crossfades using cresc. and dim. instead of hairpins, it is probably easiest to enter hairpins first, and then change their appearance in the properties panel… (gradual style)
