Trying to make a half-note tremolo at the end of the measure.

To make a half note tremolo, you enter two quarter notes and then add the tremolo.

How would I enter a dotted half note tremolo?

Enter two dotted quarters and add the tremolo (you may need to use Force Duration to make sure that the both notes appear as dotted quarters, rather than as something like a quarter tied to an eighth).

That’s the problem, quarter to an eighth.

To change the tied quarter to a dotted one:

  • select the tied note
  • type . (period) [to make it into an undotted quarter]
  • type o (letter o) to give it a forced duration
  • type . (period) again, to make it dotted

Now, it should be a forced-duration dotted quarter note, and it’s ready to accept a 2-note tremolo.
