I would be careful with the tip regarding giving priority to background tasks. A DAW is usually a foreground tasks, this might actually have a negative impact.

As always with performance tuning: measure first, change one parameter at a time, measure again.

General advice: If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it … No need to be chasing rainbows and unicorns!

If you need to fix it: Image your entire drives, all of them, before starting, especially before doing things like updating OS, adjusting BIOS, etc. That way if something goes south, with a few clicks you are guaranteed to be back where you started, no harm/no foul!*

Almost guaranteed, actually, because IMO nothing is completely guaranteed where computers are concerned!
