Turn 8th note line into double 16ths

Hello fellow notation nerds

I have a line of 8th notes that I would like to turn into 2 16ths per 8th and keep the pitches the same for a book I’m writing for my students.

I’d like to be able to display it two ways

  1. 8ths with doubled beams (as is common in music literature)
  2. Actually printed 16ths.

Dorico is so powerful I know there’s a quick way to do this.

Indeed there is!

Write > Edit Duration > Split by rhythmic grid… (grid set to sixteenths in your case, obviously)

yah buddy! that works great.

Now how do I display that as 8ths with a second beam? You know how violinist often just have that doubled beam but it’s written as 8ths with like a mini second beam on there?

Not as a single tremolo on eighths, though?

That works perfect! Thanks @judddanby
