Turn full bar into anacrusis

How do I turn this measure into an anacrusis? When I add beats, delete measures, or shift the music forward or back, it messes up the whole score. I’m sure there’s a simple solution.

Lookup pickup bar in the manual. It’s all there. Anacrusis is the technical word, but Dorico calls it a pickup bar.

This is a two-step solution:

  1. Select the quarter rest, press shift-B, type -3e, then press Enter

  2. Select the time signature, press shift-M, type 3/4,1.5, then press Enter

The following music will move around between the two steps but it should be correct after the second step. To be safe, save the file first so that if something disastrous happens you can close without saving and then re-open the saved version.

  1. Select the 1st 8th note
  2. Invoke meter popover Shift-M and type 3/4,1.5 into the popover
  3. Delete the 3/4 meter at the start
  4. Select bar rest in 1st measure
  5. Invoke the bars popover Shift-B and type -1

@StevenJones01 always 1 step ahead of me.

@Craig_F Not necessarily always - I’m in Australia, so if you’re awake when I’m asleep you will have a few hours head start on me.

Not to be confused with:

For this case, the simplest solution is maybe to activate Insert Mode (global adjustment of current bar) and delete the rests.

(Don’t forget to switch off Insert Mode once you’re finished!)

Thank you! I knew the solution was simple, as I did it before, but I just couldn’t remember.

One of the things I’m struggling with is that I’m regularly moving between multiple programs with high learning curves and they all have different shortcuts. I’m currently working with two CAD programs that some of the shortcuts do exactly the opposite things.
