I’ve an accordion part that summons a grand stave from Dorico, but actually this part can sit perfectly on a single, treble stave.
Is there a way to delete the lower stave on ‘grand stave’ instruments, so as not to waste part paper? 
Don’t input notes on it and use hide empty staves? You may also want to hide/show the brace when there’s only a single staff (Layout Options > Brackets and Braces).
You could also use an instrument that typically uses a single staff and rename it.
