Two Instrument label questions

  1. I prefer instrument change labels to appear immediately before the actual entrance rather than above it, and closer to the staff. Is this possible?

  2. I use a persistent “Percussion 1”, “Percussion 2” (and so on) labels, and would like a persistent Instrument Label at each first entrance of each new page of the Conductor’s score. Is this possible?

On the Players page of Layout Options, you can specify whether instrument change labels and warnings appear immediately above the first or last note, or snapped to the nearest barline.

There’s no way to automatically add a label for which instrument is playing at the start of each page, I’m afraid.

Thanks, but I’m talking about the label for the entrance. In the comparison below the top staff is where Dorico is putting it and I’d much prefer to have it as shown in the bottom staff, on account of player readability (since the label is not actually part of the music), and the vertical crowding issue.

No, Dorico doesn’t provide an automatic option for this placement.
