Two tuplets either side of barline appear linked and select together

I typed two tuplets in two adjacent bars, then decided not use a tuplet in the second bar. How do I delete JUST the second tuplet? Hitting backspace in note input mode, turned the tuplet into a rest tuplet. Going out of the note input mode, selecting the whole bar excludes the tuplet sign. If I hit backspace then, nothing happens. The tuplet rests are still there. When I try to select the tuplet sign, it automatically selects the other tuplet in the previous bar (which I want to keep). These two tuplets seem to be linked, perhaps because I typed them on one run. Is there a way to deselect one of them so I can delete the other?

The reason the tuplets appear to be linked is that it is probably a quarter-note tuplet that is notated like this because it spans a barline. To enter eighth-note tuplets, it’s either 5;3Enter or ;3:2eEnter.
In this case you can delete the entire tuplet, select the F#, then type ;3:2eEnter. This gets messier if there are other notes directly following, though.

I guess you’re right. Thank you!

I have been creating these kinds of tuplets all day.

The way I figured to do them is, I hit ; 3 enter, then I play two tied eighths on the same note, which Dorico turns into a quarter within the tuplet as seen above. After I do one of them this way, it let’s me continue the rest by entering quarter+eighth… quarter+eighth… quarter+eighth etc. Apparently, although it looks the way I want them to, all those quarter+eighth key strokes must have created quarter note triplets (spanning two beats). If you know an easier way of creating these, please let me know

If you only make the first triplet and then select it and hit R a couple of times, you can enter the right pitches with lock duration. Maybe faster/more easy.

Sometimes I add an dummy instrument to the score and place there the rhythms I want to use. I copy them till the end of the flow so they are always close by. Select and alt click bring them in the target part and then set the pitches with lock duration.
