Two types of rest

Hi there,

This is happening:

I have two types of rests, and that makes it hard for Dorico to make them into multirests. I want to delete this, but up to now no succes. I searched everywhere before bothering you, but can’t find anything. It’s an imported score.

I made a cropped file wiyth it in it:

twotypesofrest.dorico (1.6 MB)

I guess Dorico considers that the bars with chords in them aren’t really “empty”. Although interestnigly, if you turn off “Hide empty staves”, it displays as expected.

So I’ll have to choose between hiding the empty stave or grouping the multirests? Or do you have another suggestion?

I think this is related. There’s a suggestion for a workaround at the bottom.

Edit: Here’s a copy of your file with the workaround implemented. Kind of a hassle, but it works.

twotypesofrest with regions.dorico (1.6 MB)

Uncheck Allow individual staves of multi-staff instruments to be hidden. Then it’s getting better.
OT : you should try having Note Spacing value to 5, you’ll be quite at the same place than your casting off to 4 bars, without the hassle that comes with that… And add breaks when needed. But keep the control, don’t let it to the machine if it’s not what you want.

@asherber Aaron’s workeround worked!! Thanks very much!
