That was always a major PITA with UAD, same with IK-Multimedia btw.
I use UAD since 2001 (and when the first UAD card was distributed by Steinberg for a very short time) but that keeps bugging me ever since. Over the years I collected most of them but I still get mad when I accidentally click on one I don’T have,
One possible solution is the plugin-manager in Cubase. Just create a new collection “My UAD plugins” and add only those you own. I have done that for thy myriad of Chorus/Phaser/Flanger plugins I have and also for Compressors and Channel Strips.
It is one additional click since you have to choose the collection over a drop-down-menu first before you can scroll through the list, but that’s worth it I think.

Creating a new collection is a great idea.
Thank-you

You could try the app Plugin Mate if you’re on Windows.
I’m on Mac and use Plugin Cleaner.
Do the UAD-2/Apollo plugins only have one gigantic installer??
The native plugins all get installed one at a time through UA Connect. That would drive me absolutely mad if that weren’t the case. I only own about 10 or so, thankfully only those are installed on my system.
Yes and that’s a major PITA. With UA-Connect the native plugins are easier manageable. There was talk about adopting that for the DSP-Plugins as well, but I wouldn’t set my hopes on a solution in the near future. UAD - while making world class plugins, many of them unique - are not really fast when it comes to software updates.
